µþ±«â€™s degree has become the first in Europe to be accredited by the Club Managers Association of Europe (CMAE).
The accreditation will meanÌýplacement opportunities for ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ students, as well asÌýCMAE top student awards forÌýthe highest averaging students.Ìý
CMAE will also award student membershipsÌýand associate membership to graduating Sport Management (Golf) students, alongside giving guest talks and attending ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥'s annual Back to the Future sports conference.
ÌýSenior Lecturer in Sports Management at ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ Gary Evans said:Ìý“I’m absolutely delighted with the CMAE accreditation because it proves the BSc (Hons) Sport Management Golf is industry relevant and our Golf graduates are employability ready. The industry placements, consultancy projects and dissertation topics the CMAE will offer under the accreditation really uplifts theÌýquality of experience for our students.
“The accreditation also builds on the pioneering work with the Golf industry led by colleagues such as Ian Jones, Head of Regional and Community Engagement, and Dr. Andrew Callaway.ÌýThere is no doubtÌýthe CMAE view ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ as a trailblazer in terms educating and training early career professionals for the Golf industry."
The Sports Management Golf degree course is specifically designed to the needs of potential employers, with the third year of the course being spent on an industrial placement in the golfing industry.
The course was developed following discussion with specific organisations including the English Golf Union, the Professional Golfers Association, the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St.Andrews, the British & International Golf Greenkeepers Association and the Dorset County Golf Union.
