More than 5,000 students graduated from ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ this month and among them was Jake Hobbs, ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥'s first Doctor of Digital Media.
He is the third Centre for Digital Entertainment (CDE) Research Engineer to graduate, and ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥'s first Doctor of Digital Media after successfully defending his thesis Audience Engagement and Monetisation of Creative Content in Digital Environments: A Creative SME Perspective, in April 2015.
Jake, who graduated as part of the Faculty of Media and Communication ceremony on Friday 6 November, said: "Carrying out my research at the CDE was a fantastic experience, which enabled me to grow both as a practitioner and researcher.
"Over the four years with the Centre I was based at award winning animation studio WONKY films. Here my research focused on audience engagement and monetisation of creative content in highly competitive digital environments and offers insight into the limitations facing creative SMEs in digital environments and the practices that can be used to circumvent them.Â
"Completing the research and passing my viva was amazing and something I never thought possible back in 2010, but the journey to getting there with all its highs and lows was brilliant. Since completing my research I have been working full time with WONKY as head of digital where I am responsible for overseeing all of the company's digital output.â€
