Students celebrated at Student Development Awards night

The successes of our students were once again celebrated in style by staff, award ceremony sponsors and special guests, at the Student Development Awards ceremony. 

This event, the last ever Student Development Award awards ceremony, was held in the Fusion Building on Wednesday 3 May, acknowledging the high quality of e-portfolios and range of extra-curricular activities undertaken by students, as well as the work of those working with the High Sheriff's office this academic year. 

John Fletcher, ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥â€™s Pro Vice Chancellor for Research, presented certificates to all 28 students completing the Student Development Award this year, and prizes were also awarded by the event sponsors who all commented on how impressed they were with the quality of student work: 

• Danielle Tirel,Ìý student - Most Outstanding Achievement, awarded by 
• Jennifer Gotch-Kane,Ìý student - Best Reflective Writing, awarded by 
• Laylla Stanley,Ìý student - Dedication to Coaching & Mentoring, awarded by .

In addition, students Charlotte Loy, Katrin Mahfuz and Yana Miladinova, were recognised for successfully completing this year’s  which included working on a project focusing on the homeless.

Student Development Award Coordinator, Sonya Harvey said: “The students’ reflective writing is invaluable in helping them complete placement and job applications where they can clearly demonstrate to potential employers the skills they have developed; it also helps them to confidently articulate their experience at interview.  The e-portfolio is an impressive tool for capturing employers’ interest as well as enabling students to showcase what they have to offer, making them stand out from other candidates". 

The Student Development Award has now closed for registration. Instead, all students are encouraged to register for the  to further develop their global outlook as well as achieve recognition for the skills and knowledge acquired from extra-curricular activities.
