Dr Anna Feigenbaum, a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Media and Communication, has released the book 鈥淭ear Gas - from the Battlefields of WWI to the Streets of Today鈥� where she discusses the history, development and use of tear gas.
Anna will travel around the UK, USA and Canada from November to April on a book tour where she will talk about her newest release.
During the BBC鈥檚 Radio 4 programme Thinking Allowed, Anna spoke about the poisonous agent that causes psychological and physical torture.
She said: 鈥淪ome of the things that these gases do is burn the throat, can cause vomiting and nausea, digestive problems, diarrhoea and more severely, can cause miscarriages and respiratory problems.鈥�
Anna Feigenbaum is also co-author of the book Protest Camps, and her work has appeared in Vice, The Atlantic, Al Jazeera America, The Guardian, Salon, Financial Times, Open Democracy, New Internationalist, and Waging Nonviolence.
