On 15th January, Dr Shanti Shanker, Dr Ben Hicks and Prof Jan Wiener presented their current ADRC research projects at the ARUK (Alzheimer's Research UK) Southcoast Network Public Meeting. The projects focus on psychological and social aspects of living with dementia and include the development of serious games for people with dementia, the use of graffiti to give people living with dementia the opportunity to express themselves, and the development of dementia friendly design guidelines that minimise spatial disorientation.
The news comes as ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥'s Dr Ching-Yu Huang met with the head of Center for Domestic Violence and Child Abuse Research at National Chi-Nan University and set up a one-day conference on 28th February 2018 at ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥. This conference will involve the research team’s visit from Taiwan, forensic psychologists and scientists at ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ and local charities working on child abuse and rape prevention.Dr Huang also gave a seminar to the pediatric team at Datung Hospital in Taiwan, and met with the chief prosecutor in the Kaohsiung District court. In the seminar, she shared the knowledge and practice for interviewing child witnesses/victims, and how the medical professionals can utilize these techniques to prevent biases and misleading practices in child abuse investigation.
