Welcome to the 2019 edition of the ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ Clinical Research Unit (ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥CRU) and Centre of Postgraduate Medical Research and Education (CoPMRE) newsletter.
ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥CRU provide a research programme update focusing on the Active Ageing Pathway Evaluation, a collaborative project between the Clinical Research Unit (ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥CRU) and Active Dorset that is funded by Sport England. This month’s Spotlight is on , Clinical Research Coordinator at ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ (ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥), his responsibilities include creating a seamless link between academics at ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ and those in the NHS, primary care, public health and social care to enable high quality, pragmatic, inter-professional and inter-disciplinary health research to take place.
CoPMRE introduce us to the Institute of Medical Imaging and Visualisation headed by . They give us an update on the success of the Professional Skills in Medicine for FY2 Doctors, feedback shows the programme is valued by trainees as it gives them an opportunity to discuss issues and cases in a safe environment away from the hospital setting.
Congratulations to , Visiting Professor in the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences for his paper entitled: "Legalised non-consensual sterilisation – eugenics put into practice before 1945, and the aftermath. Part 1: USA, Japan, Canada and Mexico". This is the first output from an interdisciplinary and cross-faculty research project addressing fertility control on the global stage. Well done Professor Rowlands!
