This scholarship could be the perfect award to recognise your dedication, provide you with some additional support during your time as a ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ student to expand your knowledge and skills in this specialist aspect of nursing practice, while offering professional development opportunities for your future adult nursing career. Â
is a charity, helping people with life-limiting illnesses and their families across East Dorset and the Purbecks. They promote acceptance, hope and peace of mind, helping people live well through their illness. Lewis-Manning Hospice Care offers a range of important services, including day hospice, lymphoedema and better breathing respiratory clinics, bereavement and family support, which are run by their expert clinical team. Their aim is to help as many local people as possible, who are dealing with a life limiting illness, to live their lives well. This is done through improving symptoms and reaching individual goals all to support them in coping and managing their diagnosis.Â
The scholarship opportunity will run alongside the ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ Adult Nursing programme, providing additional professional development opportunities to students with a particular interest in developing their knowledge, skills and practice of end of life and palliative care and the care of those with life-limiting illness.

If you meet the above eligibility criteria and would like to be considered for the scholarship award, you will need to write a personal statement (max. 500 words) to support your application. The personal statement should clearly demonstrate your interest in, and commitment to, developing your knowledge and skills in palliative and end of life care. Applications will be considered by a panel of ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ staff and Trustees from Lewis-Manning Hospice Care. Successful applicants will be invited to attend an interview in early September 2024. This will allow time for successful applicants to decide if they would like to write their literature review about an aspect of palliative and end of life care, and/or identify an idea for the final year interprofessional service improvement project.
You’ll receive the cash element of your scholarship in one instalment, at the beginning of the academic year.

Important information
You will be expected to provide two progress reports to the Lewis-Manning Hospice Care, the first of which is required in November.
