Dean鈥檚 Statement of Support of Culturally Sustaining, Equity Driven, and Justice Focused Pedagogies
鈥淚t is our responsibility to prepare educators to value and educate all children. To do so, future educators must recognize children鈥檚 individual strengths and needs, the community cultural wealth they bring with them to the classroom, and the systemic challenges and opportunities that impact their experiences in TK-12 schools鈥e will continue to provide the tools that will allow them to embed student culture and lived experiences including language, race, and ethnicity into the curriculum so that each educator can engage each student.鈥 Full statement:
The teacher credential preparation programs prepare highly qualified professionals to teach multicultural classrooms in K-12 public school that value individuals, fairness, and integrity, within a welcoming learning environment that fosters respect for all. By applying an integrated approach to theory and practice our teacher candidates build skills and rapport with our education community partners.
Teacher credential preparation programs are accredited by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC) and we are member in good standing with the Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation (AAQEP), a national accrediting organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. These accreditations are important to our department as we model our commitment to being lifelong learners and reflective practitioners.
The teacher credentialing programs are post-baccalaureate programs. Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution to apply.
